Bullying Poem

Keeping Silent About The Pain From Being Bullied

I have always been bullied, and a lot of people don't understand how it feels. People who do know how it feels know how bad it hurts. This poem is to try to get people to be able to understand how it feels and/or relate to the feeling the poem describes.

That Girl

Published by Family Friend Poems October 2017 with permission of the Author.

I'm that girl you see around,
The one who walks the halls
With her head hanging down.

My imperfections
Are all you see
Because you won't take the time
To get to know me.

I go home every day,
Tell my family I'm fine,
But I'm the only one
Who knows that I'm lyin'.

Night rolls around,
Tears stream down my face.
I fight the urge to take
That razor to my waist.

I go to school the next day,
Not knowing what to expect.
I walk through those double doors
And hear the word "slut."

Everyone snickers
And scoffs at my presence.
No one will know the pain
Their words put me through.

This poem touched me. I could feel the deep hurt mentioned in the words of this poem. I know that in school it can be very difficult at times, with the negative words that may be said. Some young people do not know how to filter, nor control their random negative thoughts or speech, and they say things that hurt. I want the author of this sad poem to be encouraged and reminded to hold their head up high, be proud of who they are, and dismiss the negative word of others. Moreover, usually when people bully others it's because they have a problem within themselves.

Please be strong. Don't let the negative words win, because there are too many beautiful words to express and to appreciate. Know that you deserve beautiful words, and they belong to you also. Don't ever let those negative words tempt you to harm yourself. Live life. Appreciate your life, even though it's not easy at times. You are not what they say to you. Believe in yourself. You are worth staying alive.

Keep your head held high and don't give in. Thankfully I have a best friend that I always have support from, so I don't get the problem of bullying too much, but my younger and older sisters have had bullying, and I hate it. I'm 17 and go to school too, and thankfully our school is really supportive (private), and we just had a big meeting with everyone about bullying. I have had different problems, but always remember to face them with your head held high, and always remember that at the end of the tunnel things will be lighter. People love you in this world, they (or we) just need to find you, or you them. Stay strong.
