1. The Mother
Famous Poem
The mother soothes her mantled child
With incantation sad and wild;
A deep compassion brims her eye
And stills upon her lips, the sigh.
Growing up is hard to do. The challenges that a child must deal with throughout the life cycle are overwhelming. Children must deal with physical, emotional and psychological changes as they grow. There is no manual for growing up. In western society there are so many options given to children that they often feel confused and lost. We are not doing our children a favor if we do not provide guidance to them. Parents are there to help children navigate this confusing world. Let us not shirk in our duties.

My bond grows stronger each passing year,
My love will never disappear.
From the moment you were born,
My heart is filled with joy, and you I adore.

As I look back to when I was but a boy,
I'd have to say a cardboard box was my favorite toy.
There were no action figures in this day,
I don't know what you're going through,
But I hope you understand,
I'm just trying to be your mum
And give you a guiding hand.
When I first held you in my arms,
You were so perfect and so small.
You are a full-grown woman now;
And I am proud, oh how!
I remember-
of days so long in the past
when I wished I would grow up so fast.
The childhood of a person might be a mixture of both pleasant and unpleasant memories. Mine is dominated by unpleasant memories, but I love to read and listen to the pleasant experiences of...
My mother was adopted.
All the records tightly sealed.
Now all she has are questions,
Like wounds that never healed.
For some of us, meeting our parents saved our lives. I'm sorry things got hard. It is definitely hard to look at yourself and wonder where your nose, eyes, etc. came from. It's difficult to...
Those were the days...
When I used to get up late,
Never cared about the day and date.
How do I close the door to this space?
With my eyes filled with tears, my arms haven't the strength.
How do I close the door to this space?
Alone in my new garden where the swing set used to be,
I sat and tilled the fertile ground, preparing it for seed.
The patchy grass that used to grow between young feet at play,
Alas, to my new pastime in the dirt had given way.
This is sooo heartfelt. It takes me back to my days of raising my children. It's a good thing we have the memories, as that's the only way we can capture all the good days we had with our...
My life is changing.
The life that I've had,
It's changing forever,
But no need to be sad.
My little boy is growing
Getting bigger every day
I fear it won't be long enough
Before I have to say
The sun was brilliantly shining.
It was a picture of a day,
when I stared outside my window
and watched my son at play.
I see the pain in your eyes and feeling like you do.
I wish I could take it all away and skip these years for you.
Being a teen is so very hard, it really isn't fair
Look into the mirror and tell me who you see
Is it someone you love and in someone you believe?
The mirror will not lie and it only knows you
I am fifteen turning sixteen in about two months and this poem was so beautifully written, it just really makes me think about myself and how I should change the way I see myself and others....
What has happened to the days?
What has happened to the years?
Please let me for one last time
wipe away your tears.
Give mother a hug
Father a kiss
The time has come
We have talked about it
You are special; you mean the world to me.
You are my daughter, a reflection of my entity.
Every year, as I watch you grow by my side,
I am glad my mother taught me about this including religion (I am Muslim). She taught me to not do things I don't want to do; saying no is something she says a lot, and I am glad because I...
There comes a time in a young girl's life,
When she begins to start growing up.
It's a time when you need to let her go
And trust that she'll take the right path.
You were always there to protect me
through the dark and cold of night.
I would hold you close beside me
and squeeze you in so close, so tight.
This poem linked with my current phase. A teddy bear is a non-living thing, but when I start telling him my daily stuff, it seems that he listens and the solution to my worries is the big...
