Ode To Katie

I hopelessly sit here,
Like three years ago.
All the candles are lit,
No "Sweet Angel" to blow.

I look up to the heavens,
And shout out "WHY??"
The silence is deafening,
They don't hear my cries.

Just one last quick puff,
That's all I ask for.
Do I ask for too much?
As I slumped to the floor.

Yet again with dismay,
I feel no breeze.
No wind on my face,
Just me on my knees.

I fight all the demons,
That lurk inside me.
I would let them all out,
But I can't find the key.

This battle is fought,
every day of my life.
I hope I'm winning,
But it's not a fair fight..

You can throw theology,
Right out the door.
The bottom line is,
She's with us no more.....

She lives in my mind,
Which is very confused.
I just wish I could see her,
Put on some shoes.

She lives in my heart,
So we're never apart
She's with me today.
As it's pumping away.

Yet my soul is still searching,
For the love that I lost.
So hard to find peace
At whatever the cost

Then I look to the heavens,
And I desperately cry.
"Please, just one more puff"
No need to ask why .........

We Love You Baby,
Dad & The Girls
Penned for my "Sweet Angel's" 17th Birthday...

This breaks my heart. I am so sorry for your loss. I wish she would blow them out for you! Just one puff! I believe that she hears you, that she sees you, that you're not alone! You are right, it doesn't seem a fair fight. I am fighting the same fight. I hope you smile today! I believe she is in front of you, not behind you! Run the race set before you and you will see her again!

I am so very, very sorry for your loss of Katie. Your words mean so much. Your words show that while she was with you, she felt as loved as she was loved; which means she was loved beyond measure. I truly believe that you will be with her again. There is no other explanation for why and how we love as much as we do. Someone as alive as Katie cannot be gone forever. I admire you for your tremendous courage. I know that she is proud of you. You have honored her so much with your poem. I wish you peaceful days until then. Love from Mary.
