Sister Poem

Poem About A Loving Step-Sister

When I was seven, my parents got divorced, and it was very hard on me. A year later, my dad got remarried, and I was introduced to my step-sister. We get along; we didn't get along at first, but we've been together for 7 years, and she has become my very best friend. This is about her.

My Sister

Published by Family Friend Poems March 2008 with permission of the Author.

Scared and alone,
crying and fighting.
I didn't want it to end.
My family, my home,
forever torn apart.

My family changing,
my life rearranging,
never to be the same again.
Lost in the dark
of long forgotten memories.

But now I see the truth,
that's not what was meant to be.
I've found a true friend now,
my sister you'll forever be.

I didn't know then,
as I do now.
My family separated
to bring you to me.

You've been a friend and ally,
a playmate and pal.
You've been true and caring,
kind and loving.

I'm grateful for your smile,
and your sweet understanding.
I'm grateful for the laughs and
for all the good times.

I'm grateful for your happiness
and the joy you bring.
I'm grateful for the memories
of you and me.

I'm sorry I didn't see it before,
what great friends we could be,
but I see it now,
and you're my best friend.

I can tell you anything,
jokes and laughs and more.
I share secrets with you,
and, as far as I know,
you've told me them before.

I thank God for bringing you to me.
You're my angel,
you're my sister,
and hopefully forever
you will be....
