Hope Poem

Poem About Better Days Will Come

My poem is about holding on for better days and waiting for the bad times to pass. With all the sad news recently about Caroline Flack and mental health/suicide awareness being so prevalent in the news, this poem is just trying to say please don't think things will always be this bad. Please don't give up. You are not alone. It is a plea to anyone who might ever feel like there is nothing left to live for.

Just Wait For The Sun

©

Published by Family Friend Poems March 2020 with permission of the Author.

When everything's darkness
And you feel so alone,
When the rain doesn't stop
And you can't make it home,
When it feels all is lost
And you just want to run,
It can't rain forever.
Just wait for the sun.

When family is pain,
When friends can't be found,
When you just want to scream
But you can't find the sound,
When it's all your fault,
And you feel like you're done,
Just wait for the sun.
The sunshine will come.

The storm always passes.
It won't last forever.
The rain always stops and gives way to good weather.
The brightest and warmest of days still to come.
Please wait for the sun.
The sunshine will come.

People who need you,
People who still love you
Can warm up your soul like the sunshine above you.
You're never alone,
No matter what's done.
Wait for the sun.
Just wait for the sun.

Dark clouds always pass.
I promise you, hun.
We're all waiting with you.
Just wait for the sun.

This poem is absolutely beautiful. I've deep down in the dumps lately and it is so hard to pull yourself out of it. it feels as though you're causing more pain for others by staying even though they always tell you it's the opposite. everything is so so hard, but i'll keep trying my hardest to wait for the sun. thank you for this.

What a wonderful poem, Lisa. It's true. There is sunshine waiting after the darkness appeared. And it wouldn't be so long and can't be forever alone. Rain comes all along. We know it won't last long too. You'll never be alone. There is family or your loved ones waiting on you. Wait for the sunshine. It will always come. I love your poems so much! Thank you for sharing.

Hi Margie, thank you so much for your lovely message.

Lisa,
I love this poem. I'm a big fan of rhyming poetry and your rhyme is spot on. I love the message and the easy, simple way that you convey it here. I bet someone could make a great song out of your words. They really lend themselves to music. Beautiful work. -Pat

I loved your poem. It's a good reminder to just wait for the sun. Good days are coming. It's been a long year for all of us due to the virus, but we're coming through it in the United States, and if we just wait for the sun our time will come.

Thank you for this. It brought me to tears before I had even finished. And perhaps that was just what I needed.

Thank you Miss Lisa Marks for sharing your beautiful poem with us. A lot of people around the globe are slipping into depression amidst the lockdown, and the ones who were suffering from it for a long time are finding it worse, some to the extent that they are attempting suicide. Your optimistic poem gives us hope, and we put our faith in God, waiting for the sun and the sunshine to come.

Hi Lisa, your poem just echoes today's world problem, and it gives hope to everyone. My son heard it and trying to learn it as he so wants to tell it to his friends and family (virtually). Thanks again for giving us hope through your hope.

Hey, you did a great job. I love this poem. Lisa, I really love your poem because we could all use a little hope right now. Tensions in each home are increasing being cooped up all day, and it feels like this is never-ending. But a day is going to come when this will be history. I love your poem. It's so wholesome.
