In Memory Poem

I wrote this poem for my son who died in 2010. I wrote it for his first birthday in heaven, as I could not allow his special day to go unnoticed. I needed to make sure he was not forgotten by others outside our small family, and by writing it, it made me feel closer to him...

Birthday Wishes To My Son In Heaven

If I could have one wish in life,
That wish would have to be
That God would take away my pain
And send you back to me.

Your birthday's here today, my son,
And I just wanted you to know
How much I deeply love you
And that I miss you so.

On days like this we should celebrate,
But for me that now proves hard,
For unlike other mothers, I cannot send
A simple birthday card.

No kisses can I give you
Or birthday gifts to buy.
Only flowers I now can give you,
Which I place down where you lie.

Two other things I send you
Are my thoughts and all my love,
So hold them close and keep them safe
In Heaven up above.

And please wait for me, my darling
Until my days are through,
And then I'll come and spend all time
In Heaven just with you.

A truly heartfelt and wonderful poem. I feel your pain. Life goes on, but memories remain. God bless you.

I lost my son on the 31st 2018. As I was preparing his birthday party, someone was killing him. I left my son home and went to the venue where we were going to do his birthday party, and coming back home I didn't see him. I called him and went to the police to report that he was missing. My best friend called me back home. When I got there, I found many people at our gate entering the house. I saw my son, and he was dead. Someone killed him.

I am a mother and a grandmother. The Bible teaches us that no sin is greater than another because of forgiveness. I believe the same with sorrow. None greater or less than another. It's in the heart of the one that holds it. I can't imagine yours nor compare another feeling of such. May God continue to bless you in all you do, especially with your beautiful words.

I have lost but not forgotten my beautiful daughter, Rachel Snyder. She passed in 2002 from a bad car accident. She will always be a twinkle in the sky. She was always my little dragonfly. She leaves me pennies from heaven just to let me know she's watching over me. Keep on dancing, my baby girl.
