Loss of a Friend Poem

This poem is a dedication to RTB and NAB...two of the greatest people ever brought to this Earth. They both died too young and never had a chance to see what life could bring. Ryan, just 16, died in the car accident we were in on August 12, 2007. Weeks later, Nicole, my cousin, only 17, battled cancer. She passed away 13 days after her 18th birthday. Her last wish was to be home for Christmas, and I guess she really was home...RIP. In loving memory...

Since The Loss Of You

Published by Family Friend Poems July 2008 with permission of the Author.

Since the loss of you,
I've learned to live for each day
And take it as a blessing,
Knowing it may not always be this way.

Since the loss of you,
I've learned that when everything goes wrong
To never give up on what is right
Because it can only make you strong.

Since the loss of you,
I've learned that even when you're in a lot of pain
You've got to hold yourself together
So you won't feel like you're going insane.

Since the loss of you,
I've learned how to hold the tears when I want to cry
Because all I have is memories
And just want to ask God why.

But mostly, since the loss of you,
I've learned a life can be taken in the blink of an eye
And only Heaven really knows when
That person will have to say "Goodbye."

When I was 9 my dog passed away 24 days after my birthday and it was so hard to process what happened I cried for weeks wondering why but it was his time to go. He was 14 and God had good plans for him. I would do anything to get him back. But sometimes life just happens

When I was about ten, I went to my first summer camp. I had so much fun. No one could break that happiness I had throughout the whole camp. I always made friends with older people, manly elders. I met my best friend when I was in kindergarten. She taught me how to be kind to everyone. During camp, she got into a car accident. I heard the news when I was done with camp. On the car ride home all I could do was cry. I never mentioned all the fun I had at camp. I felt like my whole world was crushed. I felt like God played me. For the longest time, I blamed everyone. I realized that it was no one's fault. God knows when it's someone's time to go. I did realize since losing her, every day is a blessing. I blamed myself too for never spending time with her. She was old, but driving was never a problem for her. It was a head on collision and she died right there. The other driver was fine but intoxicated, and justice was served for her. 9/5/15

I really connect with this poem because my best friend committed suicide on my brother's birthday and it's been so hard for everyone who loves him! I really like it because it explains how I feel most of the time!

My cousin/best friend was killed three days ago. It was her first prom and she was only 15. On her way back from prom heading to an after-party, she was killed in a car accident. There were three more girls in the car. My cousin and another girl died. The other two are still fighting for their lives. Mikayla is my cousin and Daisia is the other girl that died. Ziyah and Jada are the ones fighting for their lives. Mikayla always had a smile on her face, and the only time you saw a frown was when she was about to beat someone up. She taught me that no one should ruin my day and that if they do, just tell her and she'd handle it. She always kept a smile on my face and the faces of others. It's unbelievable that she is in heaven watching me. I still am in shock from what happened, and I refuse to believe it. This poem touches my heart. It explains exactly what I am going through since she has left this crazy world. I love you Mikayla. You are my everything. #LongLiveKayla

I have a similar story. I lost three of my closest friends on 09-14-19: 14-15 year old guys. They were the best people ever that helped me through my toughest times but I could never return the favor because now...they're gone.

This poem really touched me with the recent loss of my best friend at age 17 in a car accident. I want to read this poem in class for a project. However my teacher requires the full name? is there anyway I could get the last name?
