Death Poem by Teens

Best Friend Died From Cancer

I wrote this poem about a year ago when my best friend passed away from cancer. I felt I lost everything, but I could still feel her with me. Cancer took my friend, but it gave heaven another beautiful angel. She will always be remembered as the brave reckless girl that I love, and someday I promise I will be with her again. But till then, I will live my life with her in my prayers.

She looked at me with those sad eyes
She told me to remember her when she dies
She said, "No simple melody will save me
No breaks in chains will set me free"

Now she's stuck in a manuscript on paper
Living in a world to save her
Cancer is no friend of mine
It never gave me a sign

Took my beautiful friend
Yes, last night she saw the end
Rest in piece my dear
No more living in fear

I just need one promise from you
That this day won't make me so blue
Because it will be hard...
Living without you

Hello, I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. My name is Angelica. I am 17. When I was 13 years old I met a girl named Claudia Marines. We became inseparable since then. At the age of 14 she was told her cancer returned. One night the doctors told us we had to say goodbye because there was no chance she was going to make it, but she did. In February 2014 she was sent to San Francisco for a stronger chemo. One day her mom called in a panic, she said the chemo was too much for her and she had approximately a week left so we should go see her while we still had the chance. We went down there that night. We stayed all night. Three days later her mom called, she said "Claudia passed away at 6:35 that morning. Her lungs collapsed and there was just no more bringing her back". I couldn't do anything but cover my face and cry. I still spent her birthday with her this year. I laid next to her headstone and stared into the sky while listening to our favorite rock music. I still felt close to her.

Chris your story is touching. I recently lost my friend to cancer she has been fighting 3 different types of cancer for 14 years. She died April 9, 2013. She was beautiful fun to be with and cancer took her from me and I regret my last word I said to her which was for her to leave me alone forever and now she really did. So I'm sorry for your loss. I love you Hidie.
