A Poem For Mom

©

Published by Family Friend Poems August 2006 with permission of the Author.

You are the sunlight in my day.
You are the moon I see far away.

You are the tree I lean upon.
You are the one that makes troubles be gone.

You are the one who taught me about life,
How not to fight and what is right.

You are the words inside my song.
You are my love, my life, my mom.

You are the one who cares for me.
You are the eyes that help me see.

You are the one who knows me best,
When it's time to have fun and time to rest.

You are the one who has helped me to dream.
You hear my heart and you hear my screams.

Afraid of life but looking for love.
I'm blessed, for God sent you from above.

You are my friend, my heart, and my soul.
You are the greatest friend I know.

You are the words inside my song.
You are my love, my life, my mom.

The emotion behind the words has touched the depth of my heart. I am feeling as if someone has portrayed my feelings on paper. I really like it. Three years back I left my mom's home after my marriage following social norms, but there has not been a single day when she didn't call me and make me feel like she is always with me. I feel myself blessed. Love you a lot mom.

I was touched by this poem. In many, many cases our moms are truly the first true loves of our lives. Our moms are our first teachers. They are our everything. Not even our significant others can fill the place in our hearts that is reserved for only our mothers. Having recently lost my Treasure, I can tell you this. My aunt said, "Don't let anyone tell you it gets easier - 'cause it doesn't." She was right. Never miss an opportunity to call her if you can or go see her. YOU never know if it might be your last opportunity. This was just the sweetest poem. I loved It!

It a nice poem. I love it. In school, when I remembered how I missed my mum's food and how she treated me like a king, I burst into tears. I became determined and am still determined to make my mom proud of me because she placed a value on me worth more than gold.

Hi Champagne,
It's nice to read your poem. It is simple but very powerful. I am going to read this poem today in my class of literature. I will surly speak about your thought toward your mom. My mom live ten thousand miles away from me, but she is always in my heart. She is the one who always inspires me to do the right thing. She is truly my eye which always sees the truth. Stay Positive.

I am the author of this piece. I wrote it for my mother so many years ago for school. I had no idea it was published here or that it had had such a powerful effect. I'm honored. It's been a very long time since I last picked up a pen. It's amazing and motivating to see such sincerity and love being spread with my words. Thank you guys so much for warming my heart and putting a smile on my face :-) I am proud and thankful that my poem and the love and appreciation for my mother has went so far. God Bless.

It's so touching to see my mom as she held my heart so tight and put it back together even when it was broken. She never made me feel bad in my life. If no one was there for me it will be my mom to make me feel better. I don't need anybody else in my life at all. She is the only one who is the most important thing in my life. I just want you to know, Mom, I love you.

I had a lump in my throat while reading this to my daughter. She was looking for a poem to narrate on Mothers' Day. I have copied it and will go to meet my mom today and say it out to her. Those of you who know Hindi, this poem is akin to the Song 'Meri maa' (my mother) in the film 'Taare Zameen Pe' (Stars on the Earth). That too is a very moving song. ....... Awesome poem.

Great poem! Exactly what my heart wanted to say. My mom is in the hospital in Hawaii right now. She's battling with lung cancer in its advanced stage. I'm in Manila and had to wait for my visa to go there and be with her for the few moments that's left for her.

Hi, loved it so much, yes I cried, it's so relevant to how most mothers are. My mom is 87 years, going strong, but I feel sorry for her now as we 8 daughters of her have left the house after our marriage SHE LIVES WITH HER ONLY SON, so she feels lonely and lost some times. Watches TV and does her prayers all the time. Anyways she has been GR888888 MOM TO ALL OF US

Hi Champagne,
Thanks very much for sharing this very beautiful poem. It's so touching it made me missed her more.
That exactly describes my mom. I and my siblings are just so lucky having given her to us by God. And if I were to live my life all over again, I'd still want only her as my mom. It's her birthday today and it's just so sad celebrating without her. Can't help but cry knowing that she's no longer around and never will be. :(
Know that we will always LOVE YOU FOREVER AND EVER, Mother, and will never forget you...
