Daughter Death Poem

Mother's Day Without My Daughter

It's been 23 years since my daughter died in a car accident. I still cry, I still get depressed at times and I still miss her tremendously! Her birthday and holidays are the hardest and I wrote this poem because Mother's Day is one of the toughest. I am truly blessed though, that God chose me to be her mom!

A Mother's Day

Published by Family Friend Poems October 16, 2023 with permission of the Author.

A mother's love has no bounds
Even before her child is born.
Everything changes...the way she lives and the way she loves,
Sadly sometimes the way she mourns.

Our children are not suppose to die before us, but
I guess for me it wasn't in God's plan.
I remember that day feeling so devastated..so lost
As I held my own mother's hand.

I've heard people say "time heals all pain"
I'm here to tell you it isn't true!!
Sometimes just getting through the day
Is all that I can do.

So forgive me please if I don't seem to appreciate the
Happy Mother's Day wishes,
I'm not ungrateful, I'm just sad.
I'm missing my child and now my mom...
Longing for all the that we had.

Tomorrow morning when I awake I will still pray.
I'll thank God for all the blessings He has given me.
I'll be strong and put on a smile
I'll remember how I loved them and how it use to be.

I'm so blessed with other children
With many grandchildren too!
They are the light of my life
For them..there is nothing I wouldn't do.

A mother's love has no bounds
Even before her child is born.
Everything changes...the way she lives and the way she loves,
Sadly sometimes the way she mourns.
