This poem really touches me because I’m not close with my mom or my siblings. It was 12 of us, and when we were younger we were close, but as we got older, I was left out of a lot of things....

You Don't Know Me

©

Published by Family Friend Poems November 2007 with permission of the Author.

Some of you pretend to know me...
some of you don't care to
Close family and friends you might be...
but you still don't know ME.

Even my sweet husband with his
"Yes, dear" and
"I love you"
really has no clue.

My mom, my sis, they ASSUME...
yet miss by far

Love me or hate me I care not.
None of you know me,

no matter WHO you are.

This poem was clever and superbly presented. Definitely worthy of praise.

All my life I’ve struggled with depression because of abuse. I understand these feelings as well as being surrounded by people and being alone. The pain and horror is real. The nightmares and flashbacks can cripple you.

This poem really touches me because I’m not close with my mom or my siblings. It was 12 of us, and when we were younger we were close, but as we got older, I was left out of a lot of things. As I try to get close to them, I get pushed out. I love my husband, but he doesn’t understand what I need as being an abused child. I needed to hear this poem. Thanks.

This poem really did, I grew up not knowing my mother or my sister, and when I tried to reconnect it was hard, Recently I have been feeling this way about my husband, I really feel he only cares about his wants and needs, This poem really sums it up for me.
