Daughter Death Poem

This is a poem I wrote to honour my daughter, Charlotte, who passed away in 2006. I wrote this on the second anniversary of her death. I hope the readers find comfort in these words as I have. Keep the faith.

Kiss My Girl Goodbye

God took you from me suddenly
I could only sit and cry
Hold her tightly in your arms
Kiss my girl goodbye

I've heard some say, "your will be done"
I ponder life and death and sigh
Keep her close, within your sight
Kiss my girl goodbye

The pain and sorrow still linger
My eyes are not yet dry
Rock her gently, sing to her
Kiss my girl goodbye

Until I make my final journey
Across the threshold in the sky
Pull her blanket to her chin
Kiss my girl goodbye
