I was just sitting there,
Watching TV,
When a wave of sadness
Washed over me.

There was no warning;
It just showed up.
I tried to swim through it
But had no luck.

My heart was heavy,
And I started to cry.
I just couldn't stop,
And I didn't know why.

I finally gave up fighting
And went with the flow,
Praying the sadness
Would soon go.

I walked down the aisle
Of the grocery store
When another wave of sadness
Pulled me from the shore.

I couldn't stay there,
Not one second more,
So I just left my cart
And headed to the door.

I sat in my car
And started to cry.
I just couldn't stop,
And I didn't know why.

What's wrong with me?
I need to know.
My soul is drowning
With each ebb and flow.

I never know when
The next wave will arrive.
It makes me question
Why I'm still alive.

Is there someone out there
Who can help build me a boat?
So when the next wave comes
I can stay afloat.

Or will I eventually drown
And never awake,
Enveloped by the next wave
Of endless heartache?

"Amazing!" was all I could say
Because I finally got my puppy today.
Chocolate brown with soulful eyes,
Definitely the perfect birthday surprise.
Every year I had asked for one.
Finally my mom hit a home run.
Getting me this perfect gift
Has given me such a joyful lift.
I will forever cherish my little boy
Just like I did my favorite stuffed toy.
Keeping him oh so near to me,
Loving him oh so tenderly,
Making him a promise that I will never break:
Nothing will harm him while I'm awake.
Our bond has already begun to grow,
Pure love that all pet owners know.
Quietly he is sleeping in my arms,
Rendering me helpless to all of his charms.
Staring at my little bundle of joy,
Thinking of the perfect name for my boy.
Undecided, I've come up with a few
Various possibilities what should I do.
Winchester or perhaps Chester for short.
Xander or maybe a bold name like Cort.
You deserve the perfect name.
Zorian means happy, and I hope you are the same.

After hours of extensive research
And following many a clue,
I've finally discovered the source
Of the new pandemic flu.

It was concocted by our pets,
Forcing us to stay at home.
Always at their beck and call,
Never free to roam.

No room in the house is safe,
For they follow you about.
They are a constant shadow.
They think you can't do without.

They look at you with greedy eyes,
Imploring you for a treat,
And though you try, you can't avoid it,
So just admit defeat.

Alas, until the cure is found,
The master has become slave.
Our pets are now teaching us
How we should behave.

A new day is beginning.
Burnt orange hues
Color the distant skies.
Dew drops, a glistening symphony
Echo their sad goodbyes.
Flora bow reverently
Giving glory to the light,
Holding onto faith
In the darkness of the night.
Joyful birds a choir
Keeping heaven in their heart.
Light shatters darkness
Marking this momentous start.
New life springs forth,
Opening a well of hope.
Possibilities abound,
Quilting a beautiful kaleidoscope,
Remembering the past,
Staying true to what will come.
Trees sing praise with wind-kissed branches
Uplifted towards the sun.
Victory is for the taking.
Wishes will come true.
Xanadu in blossoms.
Yellow beams shine through.
Zealous souls rejoice in him.

I've known this day was coming.  I've known it for a while.
There's nothing I can do to stop it.  So, I'll just try to fake a smile.

I don't want her to see me worry.  I don't want her to feel my pain.
So, I'll be strong for her, in the short time that remains.

She's been my constant companion for almost fourteen years.
She filled my life with joy and happiness and helped me face my fears.

She showed me unconditional love, and I can't thank her enough.
I know our days are numbered and saying goodbye will be rough.

I made a promise when I got her, that I would love her till the end.
That time is fast approaching for my dear four-legged friend.

So, I'm making her a new promise;  her final days will be the best.
I'll show her just how much she's loved before she's laid to rest.

Our time together will be happy;  whatever she wants, she'll get.
I'll cherish these final moments. They'll be memories I'll never forget.

Only when I'm not with her, can I let my sadness show.
I'm going to miss her so much more than she'll ever know.

It's the least that I can do for her, after all she's done for me.
God want his angel back which means I must soon set her free.
