Your Valentine

I sent a rose to you today.
I hope you didn't mind.
I left it with the Archangel
who was standing just outside.

I left a note upon it.
Signed, to my Valentine.
The simple words were blurred
from the tears I could not hide.

You have enriched my life with laughter
and made the sun to shine.
I love you and I miss you,
Signed, your Valentine.

Sometimes when my heart is heavy,
and these tears I can't avoid,
I would rather have loved you for a moment
than to have an empty void.

Please save a place for me, my love.
I hope you wouldn't mind.
Remember that I love you,
Signed, your Valentine.

Though this poem is meant for a lover I would assume, I will be reading this to my brother on Valentine's day. He died six years ago in a car accident, and this poem made me think of him. Thank you so much for writing this.

As always, I'm impressed with words and the way one can make a sentence flow in a rhyming patter. It sounds so beautiful, not just in the voice in your head but also verbally. Good stuff.

Thank you, Passion; you are so sweet and have such kind words. I can't take all of the credit; God has blessed me with this gift "of words."
-Blessings to you, my friend

This poem brought tears to my eyes. I lost my soulmate in March 2017. We were married 63 years. She was my best friend, my go-to person. Tomorrow, Valentine's Day, I will be at her grave site telling her how much I miss and love her and I will read this poem as this is just how I feel every day.

Henry,
I was brought to tears when I read your story. I'm so sorry for your loss. I was blessed and honored you chose to read my poem to your wife. I always ask God for the words to say and to use me as His vessel. Cherish all those beautiful memories you have of her. You are in my prayers. -God Bless-
