Wings To Fly

You came to me on a sunny November day.
You were so precious to hold in my arms to stay.
At first it was hard, you would hurt and cry.
I loved you so much, you touched my heart inside.
You are growing bigger every day.
I know I must let you walk away.
Down in my heart from here to the sky.
You are taking steps with wings to fly.
I am so proud of all that you are.
You will always be my shining star.
Your first day of Kindergarten is finally here.
I know you are excited, that is perfectly clear.
Mommy will walk with you and kiss you goodbye.
Spread your wings, precious girl; it's time to fly.

My grandchild, celebrates her first birthday on November 10th and her mother and my son, have put their heart and soul into raising her and I thought that this time last year they were preparing her nest and this year by preparing a family and friends enchanted fairy party for us all that they are preparing for her to spread her wings and fly in a fairytale way. I am so proud of them both and thankful for their gift of a beautiful angel into our lives and this is how I happened upon this poem.

I was looking for the perfect poem to share with my daughter for her first big step into life, kindergarten. This poem touched me and said exactly what I felt in my heart.
