Thank you for being there,
for showing me the path.
Thank you for always caring
and giving it all you have.
Thank you for not running
when I needed your help,
and thank you for always caring about my health.
Thank you for always staying by my side
and giving me the courage
and the pride to do things I've never done before.
Thank you for giving me
something to stay alive for.
Thank you for always loving me
and adoring my talents and skills.
Thank you for always being there,
for all of the sad times and the thrills.
Thank you for always telling me
what's wrong and what's right,
and thank you for helping me on the path to life.

Hi my name is Dawn. 2 years ago this February I thought everyone would be much better off if I was not alive. So I took 13 Hydrocarbons. I was near death and was put into a hospital for 72 hours. Anyway I got help, and met a woman who has helped me through some rough times. She is a wonderful person and friend. This poem says it all.

I met a wonderful man that I am sure was sent to me by my "adopted Dad". I believe our meeting each other was fate, due to the circumstances surrounding it. I reached out to him and he "showed me the path", the path to healing. He showed me that I didn't have to live in fear and shame anymore. I could stop being a victim and stop my self-loathing. He taught me that I am loved, loving and lovable. I am forever grateful to him for being such a wonderful mentor and friend.
