I Love You Poem

My Love Is Like

This poem has been written for my partner, Evan, who is the most wonderful man in the world. After my partner passed away in 2011, I never thought I could be happy again, and then Evan walked into my life, and I knew he was so special. Evan works away from home for 30 days at a time, and we keep in touch via the Internet, we write each other emails, and show our love in many ways when we can't hold each other. One of my ways is to write Evan poems, and this poem I wrote for him in August 2012.

If my love for you were an ocean,
it would go deeper than I have ever swam.

If my love for you was measured in seconds,
it would go back to when time began.

If my love for you were a timeless work of art,
it would be simply priceless to me.

If my love for you were a beautiful diamond,
it would be the purest in cut and clarity.

If my love for you were a West End musical,
only the best songs would ever be sung.

If my love for you were a comedy,
it would be full of laughter, smiles, and fun.

If my love for you was written by a playwright,
then William Shakespeare would pen every line.

If my love for you were a classic timepiece,
then, like a Rolex, it would keep perfect time.

If my love for you were champagne,
then each drop would taste like liquid gold.

If my love for you were a fable,
it would be the greatest story that was ever to be told.

If my love for you were a piece of music,
then each note you would compose.

If my love for you were a flower,
then it would be the sweetest smelling rose.

My darling, my love for you
I try to describe in so many ways.

Within my heart and deepest soul,
I know I will love you till the end of my days.
