The day I was asked
if I would feel blessed
to accept responsibility
of a lifetime request.

My heart was overwhelmed
with a loving sensation,
and I accepted this query
without hesitation.

Of loving you unconditionally
and helping guide you through life,
to show you the direction
of spiritual light.

To be your strength in hard times
and stand proud when you subdue
the obstacles that life
decides to throw you.

And to you, my angel,
I promise this.

Because without you,
as your godmother,
I couldn't exist.

This poem has touched my heart in so many ways. When my best friend found she was pregnant, she asked me if I would do the honor of being her child's godmother. That day I was very blessed and beyond happy to say, I became a godmother that day. Now my best friend is six and half months pregnant with my goddaughter and is due in July 2015. I'm so excited and anxious to see my goddaughter. I will love and cherish this little girl as if she was my own child.
