Memories Of My Dad

He wasn't a hero
Known by the world,
But a hero he was
To his little girl.

My daddy was a god
Who knew all things.
And better than Santa,
With the gifts he'd bring.

I knew his voice
Before I could speak
And loved it when
He would sing me to sleep.

He changed my diapers
And sat up all night
When my body was weak
And I'd put up a fight.

He'd come home late
With not much to say
And made us all kneel
As he taught me to pray.

He taught me life's lessons
Of right from wrong
And instilled in me values
That I might be strong.

And so through the years,
Like a hero he stood.
Working to give
All that he could.

His presence was important,
And we loved to see him smile,
For no one in the world
Could emulate his style.

And so, dear Dad,
My best memory to recall
Is the gift of your presence,
The greatest gift of all.

Awesome appreciation and wonderful thanksgiving to a father. No love and care can be compared with that of a father. My dad, too, is my friend and guide who always remains beside me and helps me in my dreams. He is like a tree under whose shadow I can cool all my fatigue.

Truly love the poem. I am also fortunate to have such wonderful experience throughout my life from birth till young. I wish his love and affection for endless days. Whenever I feel weak and in a state that make me feel that I don't know what to do, I talk to my dad and get the right way.

A truly wonderful tribute to your father expressing what loving parental care is all about.

I loved it. I never had the opportunity to feel or spend those precious moments with my hero, but you made me feel those deep inside my heart. Keep writing such beautiful poems.

Makes me remember the time when I was a little girl waiting for my dad to come back home from work. I was always able to recognize the sound of his bus.

My daddy is suffering from Parkinson's and I feel helpless. He's having phobias of all kinds of things. I'm so torn with all feelings and don't know what to do. He's an amazing man. YES, I am a daddy's baby girl.
