Poem about Teen Life

Mask Of Lies

This poem is strongly influenced by Edwin Arlington Robinson's poem Richard Cory. It's my take on modern society and the popular clique. Also creating a mask of lies to make people believe that everything is fine and dandy.

She's beautiful, she's pretty
She's really such a sight
Nobody can see by her appearance
She's really not all right

She's laughing, she's smiling
She really does seem happy
But in her room all alone
She feels nothing but crappy

She's popular, she's smart
She's your "go-to girl"
But nobody notices that
She's in a downward swirl

She's alone, she's scared
She really wants to do it
She took the pills, she's on the floor
She'll be gone in just a bit

She's gone, she's dead
She really took her life
Nobody ever saw it coming because
She always said, "I'm fine"

This poem has touched me. I have been thinking of suicide constantly and taking pills is the way I would do it. Everyday's a struggle for me and I'm constantly thinking about death. I'm currently seeking counseling for this and hopefully soon I'll get better. I just don't know anymore. I'm kind of lost but I know that someday I will be better.

I think this story was definitely about me. I still think of dying almost all the time.

This poem, I won't say its touched me but rather it has related to me so much, I remember one year ago when I try to take my own life and the truth is sometimes I still think of doing it, I've been through a lot I never had anyone I could offload too and sometimes it gets to me so much.
