Tearless Cries

Why are you doing this, ruining your life?
The only thing you've accomplished is causing stress and strife
We're all trying to help you with this hard and trying time
But you think we're crazy, it's all in your mind
I miss the way it used to be, just a few months ago
For some reason you've changed for the worse and the reason I do not know
I worry about you each day and every night
But I can't protect you; I can't fight your fights
I'm your daughter, flesh and blood, and I really do care
But I'm only 14, all these burdens I cannot bear
I want you to grow up, grow up and be a man
You're 40 but want us to hold your hand
Daddy, it's not too late to put your life on track
Do it for us, we need you, and that's a fact
At night when I lay down, for you I silently pray
That God would keep you on earth and not take your life away
It's hard for me because I have to stay so strong
I'm more worried about Kris; she doesn't care what you did wrong
I'll do you a favor but only for her sake
I'll keep her happy so her joy you will not take
So don't worry about her, focus more on your son
I know deep down inside his heart weighs a ton
I love you, I do, but I can't go on believing lies
I'll help you best I can and at night cry tearless cries.

Yes, this poem was very touching. I know my own dad puts the weight of the world on his shoulders, and its tearing him apart. It hurts me as his daughter that I can't do anything to help him without making it worse.

Wow! Talk about hitting the nail on the head! I am a mom who has relapsed a couple times over the last 6 months. It was pretty bad. I have kids, ages 16, 20, and 22. They have literally been going out of their minds with worry. They don't want to give up, and it would hurt if they did. However, I do not blame them one bit. I need to do this! I need to get my act together now! Not only do I risk losing them, but substance abuse doesn't care whether I live or die! My family does!

It's a really beautiful poem. It really touches my heart.
I remember my father who died when I was just one and a half years old! I miss him even though I don't have any memory of him with me, but I love my Daddy, and I wish he was with me now.

The weight of the world is a weight no one should carry, especially a child. We as parents can sometimes be blind by many sources of pain or loss. The sad thing is we do not see the damage done until the child grows into an adult. I speak from experience. I have asked for forgiveness but it has not come yet if at all. I can only remember this and it gives me some comfort to cope "forgive them Father, for they know not what they do" I can expect any more?

So many countless people of all ages can relate to what this very wise young lady had to say and convey. She is to be commended for her tact and ability to communicate her feeling so excellently in prose. and you know what? I bet her father is an alcoholic!! Been there young lady when I was your age.

That was simply beautiful, I can't put it any other way. *Hugs* Stay strong, I can relate to what you're going through. I was the same age when someone I was close to- not of family mind you but they may as well have been- were going through some really hard times.
Chin up, there is always someone you can fall back on, disclose to, even if you don't know it. :)
