As I bowed my head to pray,
I was searching for the words to say.
So much time had come to pass
since I had felt Your presence last.
I was ashamed, afraid to speak,
My throat way dry, my tears were weak.
My knees were feeling foreign ground.
I could not utter a single sound.
Then with a simple breath of air,
my spirit sensed that You were there.
You said there was no need to recall
every detail that had made me fall.
You said just tell me what's in your heart.
That's always the best place to start.
So I told Him my sorrow for being away,
How I had missed Him more every day.
All of a sudden, He lifted my head,
His arms were around me, then He said,
"I hear your voice, I know your name,
No need for excuses, no need for blame,
Just let me love you and hold you near,
For you are always welcome here."
Time stood still as I sat at His feet,
Hours spent with my Father, were so, so sweet.
Peace came upon me, as I heard an 'Amen'.
I knew I would never stay away again.
So no matter how long since you've been away,
The Father is waiting, Please take time to pray.

BATTLE IN PRAYER

Now I lay me down to sleep,
Was the last thing on my mind
As I drifted far away
Peace and rest for me to find
I settled for a quiet place
With no one else around
And dreamt there in my solitude
Till morning could be found
But in an instant I saw your face
Your pain was showing through
How could I lay down to rest
When there was none for you?
My soul was gently shaking
My body to arise
"come now, to a higher place"
I stretch and rub my eyes
The room is dark, no morning here
Just the silence of the night.
"Get up and put your armor on,
A battle is ready to fight"
So I picked up His Truth that you are healed
And I laid it at Jesus' feet
Your Righteousness was bought by His dear blood
So there is no death, no defeat
I wrapped His Peace around your soul,
took His Sword into my hand
His Word slashed the enemy's grip
As your Faith took a stand
The battle now is over
His Salvation captured your pain
"you both can go in peace now"
And my mind drifts off again
I feel the warmth of the morning light
And open up my eyes
I raise my hands toward Heaven
And look up to the skies
I feel refreshed, renewed, alive
No battle scars I see
The pain is gone and now I know-
it wasYou,,,who prayed for ME!

A Day in Heaven For My Friend

Did you walk on streets of gold today?
Did you comb the angel's hair?
Did you dance with delight before the Lord,
In the middle of the square?

Did you walk past the tree of life
And give its fruit a shine?
Or did you set the table
So the saints could come and dine?

Did you run and play with laughter
With the children in the street?
Or did you sit alone in silence
At the place of Jesus' feet?

Did you gaze upon His glory
As He touched your tender face?
I want to know what happens
While you are in this place

I want to praise and worship
Where freedom is meant to be
But for now, I'll try to finish strong
While you save a place for me.

Poems are written every day for moms across the earth.
Stories, songs, and ballads, all trying to tell her worth,

How every day she battled, the odds against her stacked,
Never giving up on us and never looking back.

There was no time for wishing or waiting for a dream.
Faces to wash, meals to cook, clothes that needed cleaned.

She never feels that she's been cheated of a life to call her own.
Smiles that come from beneath her feet is where her heart is drawn.

Sometimes we saw a worried look or heard a desperate prayer,
But she never burdened her little ones with even a hint of care.

Our table was full, our beds were warm, clothes upon our back.
We always had just what we needed; we never knew a lack.

The outside world might raise a brow and doubt that we'd survive,
But mom was sure of her love for us, and that love kept us alive.

She could've chosen a different path, the road to please herself.
Instead she took the high road, and her kids became her wealth.

Investing in us every day, she seemed so brave and strong,
But only God knew the tears she cried when she was all alone.

He heard her every prayer and watched as time went by.
He traded her ashes for beauty and lifted her head up high.

It's no wonder that we love her so unlike any other.
Happy Birthday to the queen of our hearts, our dear, precious Mother.

Every time a rhyme goes through my mind,
Something special takes place that I find,
Creating a place for my soul to dwell,
Away from the pressure of having to tell
People what is wrong, why my smile is gone.
Each and every poem is a part of my song.

The Cost of Temptation

Sin came knocking at your door,
promising some spice.
"It's only make believe, they say,
only not as nice."
The tempter whispers in your ear,
"Come see, come have some fun!"
But the Spirit says, "Please don't go,
From this kind, surely run!"
Then the serpent strikes again,
Causing your flesh to rebel.
Surely a little pleasure
won't send your soul to hell?
Suddenly pride takes over
and pushes the final call.
Before your heart can stop you,
you begin to risk it all.
You already know the content,
You already know the scene,
But still you press toward that place
You know you shouldn't be.
You then proceed and partake
and fill your senses full.
And every now and then,
You feel the Spirit's pull.
After the credits begin to roll,
you feel a little loss.
Back to your reality,
the one bought on the cross.
There is now no condemnation,
You run to look that up.
And then you start to pray
As you drink a bitter cup.
Regrets are creeping in,
because something pure was lost.
Before you let the serpent win,
You better count the cost.
