41. Cost Of A Smile
The cost of a smile isn't much,
although many people act as such.
We all have our problems of struggle and strife,
but a smile will help in anyone's life.
The cost of a smile isn't much,
although many people act as such.
We all have our problems of struggle and strife,
but a smile will help in anyone's life.

If only
We'd have helping hands that lead,
Open arms accepting those in need,
Not fingers pointing out misdeeds.

Sticks and stones may break my bones,
but words will never hurt me.
That old saying is such nonsense.
Black is
Black is as beautiful as a bed of milky white clouds.
Black is as beautiful as soft as a newborn baby hair.
Black is as beautiful as standing up for what is right.
It really touched me and I am going to use it to motivate and encourage others. Some of our black brothers and sisters hate themselves because they are black.
If you have helped one single person
To overcome a prejudicial mind,
You have made an angel sing.
There are only a handful of people
You'll meet in life
That truly touch your heart
And make you glad you're alive
Our son, Christian, passed away suddenly at the age of 26 on October 20th, 2006. I came across this poem; it reminded me so much of our Christian. He had that type of personality and the...
When word comes that you are gone
what will be said of you?
Those who only knew you casually
will say charitable platitudes.
This is such an interesting point of view, and honestly, I believe we should start having more in-depth speeches for those who have passed at funerals now. This poem has changed my thinking!
Is there anything as tranquil
As a brightly glowing jonquil
That stands in sweet serenity,
A part of nature's tapestry?
Famous Poem
Can I see another's woe,
And not be in sorrow too?
Can I see another's grief,
And not seek for kind relief?
A soulful poem. Sometimes or many times for some people it's the "going through" the sorrows that make life worth living. A hard way to learn a life lesson, but it often turns out better than...
I am beautiful,
I am powerful,
I am desireable,
Boys love me,
Just for today,
Can we forget about race,
Colour, religion
And who isn't 'straight'
When times of sorrow
Come each day,
I always feel sad
And sigh away.
I am deeply touched by this poem. I am South Sudanese (23 years old) and living as a refugee in Egypt. My experience with war is that I was born in a worn-torn country. It left deep wounds of...
Have you ever asked
Why the singing bird sings?
Why people help people
Without gaining a thing?
After I knew the person you showed the world,
I searched for the person you are.
He was nowhere around
Where was he to be found?
The first time that we saw you
That shy angelic face,
We knew you'd make a nation proud
With dignity and grace.
Famous Poem
A blade of grass is bending
Above the moaning stream,
In sympathy is blending
Where troubles only seem.
All I want is a home of my own
I'm not too demanding you'll see
A bowl of food, the occasional bone
And I promise I'll be good company
A very moving poem. Since my dog died last year a number of people have suggested that I might find a dog to replace her in a rescue home. Best wishes, Ann
I wish you could see the world through my eyes.
You'd understand me better and release fewer sighs.
There's so much that goes on inside my head.
When a smile can lift a fallen soul
Or a loving touch make one whole
If just one heart we can console
Our Song of Love we can't withhold
