Father's Day Poem

Poem For A Father's Day Card

My father is not full of bravado. He has quiet strength. This is not about me but about him and this is what I wrote in his Father's Day Card for 2013.

The Gift Of My Father

©

Published by Family Friend Poems May 2014 with permission of the Author.

Burdens carried with strength unsung
Laboring at labor until the labor is done
Persistence unyielding
Protection and shielding
These are the gifts of my father

Listening, absorbing
Cautioning, uplifting
Strong and steady
With faith at the ready
These too are the gifts of my father

Figuratively you hold the ladder
While I climb
Holding me steady with investment
Of wisdom and time

I want to say thank you for the role model you've been
And tell you with joyful heart
"You are a gift to me, Father."
