Poem Showing Anger Toward Dad

My parents got in a fight over church one morning. My dad was kicked out of the house and now it's almost as if he was never here to begin with.

Not Your Little Girl

Published by Family Friend Poems October 2008 with permission of the Author.

I was ten years old
when a fight one morning
destroyed my family
without even a warning.
I was young and dependent
and he was strong and wise
but little did I know
my Dad was full of lies.
He made empty promises
and he broke my heart
through many painful years
my life has fallen apart.
Now he likes to drink
to numb his pain away
while I have to endure
intense pain every day.
I am now 14 years old
in this harsh, cold world
if you don't want to be a Dad
then I'm not your little girl.

When I was 3, my mom and step-dad got married. It was my first memory. I got 2 new step brothers and a new step sister. Everything was fine, until one day. I was seven. My mom and step dad were fighting worse than ever, and they got a divorce. I fell into a horrible depression. I grew up thinking he was my real dad until I was about 11. I am 14 now and all I feel is hatred towards him. He was a sex offender, he did drugs, and was an alcoholic. He got the chance of supervised visits with me, but never showed up to court to get it. I am heartbroken and wish he was still my dad, but at the same time, I hate him.

This poem seems like me. My dad left me and my mom when I was around 8-10 years old. I'm now 14 and he likes to drink...a lot! So I connected like, right away.
