Teen Crush Poem

Poem Wanting To Be More Than Just Friends

I had a huge crush on my best friend. He knew I loved him but never said anything about it. One day I told him how I felt, and he said he didn't feel the exact same way. All he ever wanted to be was friends. I remember running straight home with tears streaked down my cheeks. I felt terrible. The next day and the day after that, I acted as if none of it had ever happened. But then one day I couldn't hide the fact that I still loved him. Now I'm 15 and still love the boy.

Love Me In A Special Way

©

Published by Family Friend Poems April 2017 with permission of the Author.

I know I can't force you to love me,
But hear me out
When I say
I love you
In a special way.

How many times do I have to say it?
One hundred?
Two hundred?
Three hundred times?

I know I can't force you to love me,
But hear me out
When I say
I love you
In a special way.

I'm not crazy,
But then again,
I'm crazy for you.
The way you smile
And when you look out for me,
It's like you're a secret guard,
Always there,
But then you say,
"We're just friends.
And that's all we'll ever be.
Friends."
All I say
Is okay.

Then I think...
I see the way you look at me.
Your eyes are always glued to mine.
I feel the way your soft hands hold mine,
But you always say,
"It means nothing.
We are just friends."
I roll my eyes and say okay.

I know I can't force you to love me,
But hear me out
When I say
I love you
In a special way.

And you best not forget.
If you do,
Then I'll just have to remind you
I love you
In a special way!
