When I peeked out the window,
there was my little man,
my grandson stood there
with flowers in his hand.
His eyes how they sparkled
as he grinned from ear to ear.
His thoughtfulness was so kind,
down my cheek fell a tear.
As I opened the door
and squealed with delight,
we exchanged kisses
as I hugged him so tight.
He proudly held up tulips
with their green long leaves
as the dirt-covered bulbs
waved in the breeze.
When he left with a baked cookie in his hand,
my feelings were somewhat marred.
I wondered how he got this flowery gift
and from which neighbor's yard.
