A Broken Puzzle

©

Published by Family Friend Poems June 2007 with permission of the Author.

When I found you,
I found me.
I was no longer alone;
I was put together.
There were no missing pieces.
We were the perfect puzzle.
Onlookers envied what we had.
We had so many beautiful memories
That they're not even possible to forget.
That part of my life was my life,
The life I loved.

Then I lost you somewhere
Along the way.
There were no fights or disagreements;
Our puzzle just broke.
Piece by piece, it fell apart.
Soon it disappeared.
I've tried to get it back;
I've done everything.
The pieces of the puzzle
Just don't fit together anymore.
I found your pieces reconnecting
With new pieces.
My pieces were left torn and shattered,
Alone in their box.

I just want one last look
At that beautiful puzzle we shared.
Even though it won't help me get over the pain,
The pain that has ruled my life for months,
I just can't close the cover to that puzzle box

I would have shown this poem to my lost friend so many months ago had I known it was here. Now I know how to fix my broken puzzle and pick up the empty box to put it where it belongs. Full of love between me and my friend.

This really hits directly on my present friendship. She was all I ever thought of, the first I had. She left without a reason, blocking all links. I choose never to worry but can't get my mind off her. I wish she could still believe in me again, even though my dreams are taking long to be actualized. I still love you.

I have been going through the same thing. This poem hits the nail on the head. I feel like I'm losing my best friend and she doesn't know or can't tell. This poem was exactly what I needed.

Exactly the way I have been feeling for months now. How I wish she could know how much she means to me. Olayinka, I am grateful for all you have done.

I have a best friend that I trust and rely on. She was the best friend and sister I have ever gotten. We were always really close, and people could see that. As time goes by, during semester 3, I can feel a wall building between us. It's like someone is pulling her away from me. We still tell each other secrets and talk a lot, but we aren't as close as before. Sometimes I wouldn't tell her about my feelings since I have depression and suicidal thoughts, but I can feel that she don't understand me as well. I put on a fake smile every day in front of my friends and yet my best and closest friend doesn't know how I feel... I hope we are as close as we were before...

I'm experiencing the same kind of story. I don't have a best friend. He was the only one I trusted a lot, and of course he trusted me a lot. I cry whenever I'm all alone.

My friend and I are separating right now. I can feel the shift, and it is seriously hurting me. He used to be the reason I would smile so much. Now he's the reason I find myself crying at night. He has turned dark and cold, and it's really affecting me. I love this poem. I describes how I feel. Thank you.

Some friends enjoy your sad moments and they run away when the bright day of yours come. That's what I feel too.

A heart touching poem which makes me to remember my best friend named VINI .We both are very close to each other like two sisters, we share everything. But nowadays nothing is good in our life, we are not spending much time as earlier. We are not sharing our happiness or sadness I don't know why, but today also I love her so much I need her.

I recently went through this ordeal with my two friends Jess and V. It sucks that this sort of thing happens. They went to a movie and connected and kind of have forgotten about me. They do EVERYTHING together now and I'm sitting in the back seat like the third wheel. I got fed up with it today and send them each this poem and if things don't change, I will be that loner, sadly.

This poem really touched me.
I had a best friend for about 5 years...
We grew up and became opposites.
She was like, my world and life savor.
We always said Best Friends Forever.
I guess it wasn't true :(

I felt whole when I was with my best friend. She always knew how to make me smile, my life felt so complete, I used to think that she would always be in my life! I don't even understand how our friendship ended, now we're like strangers, its like we never had a beautiful friendship. all I have now is memories! I would give anything to have her back in my life! I will never forget her, even if she forgets me! its so painful! There's never a day that goes by that me crying!

This touched me a lot me and my best friend were unbreakable, at least that's what I thought, but know I feel alone and I don't think anyone can replace her. She was the only friend I could trust and I don't know what happened she says it wasn't my fault but won't tell me why she is doing this.

I spent 13 years of my life with a woman and this poem describes the breakdown of our relationship quite well.
I'm still not over her.
I'd give anything to get back what we once had.
It's been about six since months now since I've seen her.
Apparently she has been seeing someone else for a few months now.
I hope their pieces fit.
I won't let anyone get a hold of my pieces just yet.
I've had a couple women try, but they just don't fit right.
My pieces lay on the table, waiting for her to put me back together.

Hi Jess.
Thank you for the poem you wrote, it really touched me. I feel the same pain you went thru after I lost my friendship with my best friend from long time recently. I am still trying to be strong. but you made me believe that I am not the only one, who is going thru this rough path. thank you again. Kenneth
