About Raelene J. Elliss

Many years ago, Raelene J. Elliss’ brother passed away in a drowning accident at a popular surf beach in South Australia. Her heart was broken, and the strain of the grief was unbearable. She had no idea how to express her feelings about that tragic loss.
One very warm evening, as she lay awake, unable to sleep due to the worry in her life, she wrote down her feelings on a scrap of paper. Out of that scrawling came her first poem. That was in 1986, and now more than 30 years down the track, Raelene has written more than 200 poems. They have mainly been for her family in celebration of milestones, birthdays, and Christmas.
She developed a knack for picking up a word, phrase, or very funny situation that would inspire a poem. She calls herself the Poetic Rambler and signs her poems as such. Raelene hopes that her poems bring joy and inspiration to whoever reads them.

We all face challenges in our lives that have overwhelmed us.
It's almost built in to our human minds to take on the dramas and stresses ourselves.
Our first port of call us Jesus, our own strengths fail without Him.
    Amen Jesus ❤️

This poem reaches to the heart of what God wants for his children. The imagery puts the reader in the picture; that's a reflection of very good writing. Well-deserved publication; the author should be published on paper too. Very moving and inspirational words; love it.

The writer has hit the nail on the head. We treat strangers with grace and family with scorn. Our family will disapprove of our life choices, whereas strangers will not. A depressed soul pushes away loved ones first and the hardest. The essence of this poem reflects this truth.

Though I live in Australia, I can picture the scene in my mind's eye. It's reminiscent of a Charles Dickens scene from Scrooge. I love the poem and appreciate the words and talent of the poet.
