  • A Strange Affliction

    • Published: January 3, 2025

    in Funny Life Poems

Have you noticed that your husband suffers from a strange affliction
That will most often affect him in the bedroom or the kitchen?
Though you must try hard to treat him with compassion and with kindness,
It is really quite the challenge dealing with Domestic Blindness.

That Marie Kondo would have a conniption
If she were to open the drawer in my kitchen.
A search of this drawer isn't for the faint-hearted.
You'll want to give up though your quest's barely started.

  • The Bear With No Hair

    • Published: July 2022

    in Inspiring Poems for Kids

Benny the bear was bare of all hair
And barely could bear being hairless.
He felt rather silly (and a little bit chilly)
And wished that the hairy bears stared less.

Thanks for the laugh. I love your version of the song, and your clever lyrics fit perfectly. To me, it's especially funny because it is so relatable (sigh), and I think we have a similar sense of humour. I've enjoyed all of your poems and look forward to reading more of your work.

Oh Ann, I am so sorry for your loss. I can't begin to imagine what you're going through. I hope that, in time, you may be able to find some measure of solace in writing your wonderful poetry.
Sincerely,
Cynthia

I loved this. Succinct and yet eloquent, this was such a pleasure to read.

Hi Marybeth. What a cute story...he sounds adorable. It reminded me of our previous dog, also a lab, who was our resident present opener. She loved nothing more than tearing off wrapping paper. She became very efficient at it, alternately ripping off strips and spitting them out, then patiently waiting for the next one to be offered. She would even ignore her own opened presents till her job was done. The only time we deprived her of her fun was if a present contained clothing or a book. It became a Christmas ritual and you can imagine the mess of paper but totally worth the joy it gave her and therefore us.
