The Way I Truly Feel

Published by Family Friend Poems June 2011 with permission of the Author.

I remember the first time we met.
I knew I never had a chance with you.
I remember looking into your eyes,
I saw the love and happiness in your soul.
I remember the way I truly felt.

I remember waking up each day thinking I got to see you
I always knew there was something special about you.
I remember when we first started to talk,
I never wanted to stop.
I remember the way I truly felt.

I remember looking past your beauty to who you truly are.
I started to get a funny feeling in my lower stomach.
I remember having a dream about you.
I knew that you didn't feel the same way back,
I remember the way I truly felt.

I remember when we started to become close,
I always liked you deep down in my heart.
I remember you telling me you felt the same way back.
I never could have been happier.
I remember the way I truly felt.

I remember asking you to go see a movie.
I wasn't sure how things would go.
I remember holding your hand for the first time,
I knew then I wanted you and no other girl.
I remember the way I truly felt.

I remember standing close to you talking,
I wished we could have more time to do it again,
I remember taking your hand in mine and getting close to you.
I didn't know what to say and didn't know how I felt.
I remember the way I truly felt.

I remember thinking what it would be like to lose you,
I didn't know what to do.
I remember hearing you like me so much.
I couldn't imagine my life without you.
This is the way I truly feel.
