Love Poem about Marriage

Keep Those You Love Close

I spent over 20 years feeling as though I missed my wife. Even though we slept in the same bed and she was a stay at home mom. I didn't realize that there was a lack of closeness and intimacy. Knowing what was missing eluded me until it was too late. This is my warning to others, never to let the distance grow.

If you miss someone when they are near,
don't think twice or hesitate.
Hold them close for they are dear,
or you may make a big mistake.

As time goes by the distance grows,
the cracks appear that no one sees.
Just like a lawn that no one mows,
Too busy looking at the trees.

The rain and cold will take their toll,
Enter the cracks and freeze and pry.
Get inside just like a mole,
And that's the time you better try.

There comes a point where you will find,
you're missing them from far away.
That's when you know you are the kind,
that only lives from day to day.

Learn from your past, do not forget,
and think ahead of what you will do.
Or this mistake it will beget,
the end of all that's close to you.
