Hurting Poem

Regret Of Past Mistakes And Broken Promises

This a poem I wrote for my wife after our marriage reached the end. When you know it's too late and hope you are wrong. I think i also wrote it to myself to remind myself of that time and hopefully remember the poem in the event it was not too late.

Promise Potion

A smile so bright, she had before.
To all those around, and so much more.

Years of neglect have done the harm.
Since that day she took my arm.

The smiles still there, just not from me.
What can I do to make that be?

Her lovely eyes used to behold,
her dreams for us and nothing more.

Now she only looks away,
and I fear that there has come the day....

Nothing can I do, to change the past.
Maybe a magic potion she could cast.

One night, while sound asleep.
A spell that would just make me keep.

The promises I have said before.
So I don't hurt the one, that I adore.
