What Makes A Good Father?

It is so hard to know how to be a good father for our sons. Here is a poem from the perspective of a son's view of fatherhood.

Just A Dad

He doesn't care if he's a movie star
or the best athlete to be had,
not even a millionaire trader,
he just wants his dad.

He isn't impressed that he may be
a corporate president, or a college grad,
or even a life-saving surgeon.
He just wants his dad.

No matter how much money one can earn
being a famous coach, farmer, or CEO,
his child just wants him nearby.
That's all he needs to know.

This son just wants some of his precious time
to be his parent to care,
to hear the words, "I love you,"
and to just be there.

Others may try to replace him
in life's good times and bad,
but if the truth is known,
a son just wants his dad.
