A girl writes about the death of her father. She misses him but is glad he is no longer suffering. She looks forward to the day when they will be together beneath His throne.

Dad's Journey To The Other Side

Dad has taken his final journey,
And for him I still am yearning.
He'd been sick several years,
And I've shed many tears,
But I know he's like a new man
And is resting in God's hands.
Dad had more than his share of hurting,
If I could bring him back-I wouldn't,
I hope one day to sit at his side,
Forever to be in heaven on high!

This is an emotional poem. Sorry for your loss. My dad was a heavy drinker and had suffered a stroke a couple of years before he died and he was still drinking heavily just before he died. He was suffering towards the end because is body was shutting down. I am thankful my dad isn't suffering anymore.
I found this poem was able to say what I wanted to say even though I couldn't find the words myself, that's why I read it at my dads funeral (3 weeks before writing this post) I read it emotionally and it conveyed what I wanted to say and people had positive thoughts about the poem because it said the truth.

This poem is so sweet. I lost my father seven months ago due to heart failure and COPD. I'm thankful I got to tell him goodbye. It breaks my heart that he can't walk me down the isle, but as least he doesn't have to suffer anymore. Thanks for writing that beautiful poem!

This is one of the saddest poems I ever read. It is very heartfelt and touching. I had to keep myself together and try not to cry. All I want to do is give this little girl a hug.
