Fall Poem

Poem On The Ending Of Summer And Coming Of Fall

This short poem describes why autumn is the poets favorite season of the year. Autumn is a season that evokes different emotions in people. The changing of the seasons, with summer fading away and fall arriving. The slowing growth of flowers are signs of the changing times. Despite these changes, the poet expresses their love for the season, with its crisp air and blustery winds, and the feeling of being a child again.

I love the lengthening shades of day
As autumn brushes summer away.
When spiders appear from everywhere,
Their sticky webs snagging my face and hair.

My flowers are slower and growing old;
For their sake, I should rue the cold.
But the child within me favors the fall,
The chilly air, the wind, and all.
