He heads for the door,
Not knowing if he will come home.
On the outside he seems calm,
But inside he wonders
Whose life am I saving today?
He knows he cannot be afraid.
Once again he drives off
With the sirens wailing in fright.
The victims look at him and ask,
Who is he?
He is a son, a brother, a cousin, a boyfriend
But most of all he is a fireman.
He walks out the door
Not knowing if he will come home,
Yet the pride in his job gives him the strength
To leave everything behind and go save a life.
