  1. Is It To Late Or Is There Still Time?

    • By Faith Mendez
    • Published by Family Friend Poems December 2008 with permission of the Author.

I fell in love with my best friend, and when I told him how I felt, he told me I wasn't ready for him and urged me to go out with other guys. When I went out, I realized that my heart wouldn't allow me to, but it was already too late. I hurt him because he didn't expect me to give up on him that easily. But I want to fight for him, and that is what I have been doing.

    in Just Friends Poems

If he is ready to date
    I have no chance
I would already be too late
    For there to be romance

  2. Wait For Me

    • By Sabrina
    • Published by Family Friend Poems January 2009 with permission of the Author.

You know that feeling that you get when you think you love someone? Or when you're falling in love for the very first time? Those are the feelings I got towards this one man. I've liked him since day one. When he finally asked me out my insides turned to lava. I felt like I could fly. Unfortunately, it was the wrong time for us. We were both way too busy with our own lives. So no matter how much it hurt me, I had to end it. To this day, we are still very good friends, and not a day goes by that I don't wish that we were once again together.

    in Heartbreak Poems

I know so little about you,
But I'm falling in love with you.
I have been since the day we met.
    When your eyes met mine

    • By Erin L. Kampen
    • Published by Family Friend Poems June 2022 with permission of the Author.

This poem is about accepting a fate that was foreseen but all too tragic anyway.

    in Hurting Poems

So awkward in the morning, just a little unsure
A little off your game, but it all felt so pure
We knew from the beginning that this was going to hurt
From floating in the clouds, to face down in the dirt

  5. Daydream

The man in the poem is daydreaming about his youth and a love from long ago. He wonders if she still thinks about him. He longs for his youth while pondering his mortality.

    in Metaphor Poems

Where did all the flowers go?
    Falling leaves in colors show
    Spring is but a memory.
    Distant dreams come over me.

  7. Precious Memories

    • By Alora M. Knight
    • Published by Family Friend Poems September 2015 with permission of the Author.

This is not a lost love between two adults; it is the heartache of losing the loving presence of two beloved grandchildren due to the bitter divorce of my son and his wife. For twenty years there had been utter devotion. The blessing now is that they are now happy in their own life and I have my memories.

    in Divorce Poems

I will take those precious memories
And frame them with my love,
Then hang them in the hallways of my heart.
    I hope the fond remembrance

    Love like a broken vase

    in Heartbreak Poems

Some say a broken heart is like a shattered vase
Fragile pieces scattered all over the place.
The shattered pieces of broken glass seem to go everywhere
Unlike the pieces of a broken heart that seem to pierce your soul.

    • By Matthew Dusfim

Is it worse never to find the love of your life, or to find it and not be able to be with her? In this poem I have tried to express the mixed and stormy emotions going through each and every one of us in such a situation.

    in Hurting Poems

In such a special, lovely way

Missing a piece you can never take back...

I've lost a piece and it's impossible to bring it back.
