Loving Father Poem From Daughter

I lost my dad August 28, 2002. He was my everything. He was 82 when he passed away. I miss him more every day. I'll be sitting at work and will be thinking about him. He was the most perfect dad ever.

If I could write a story,
It would be the greatest ever told.
I'd write about my daddy,
For he had a heart of gold.
My dad, he was no hero
Known around this world.
He was everything to me,
For I was his baby girl.
I'd write about the lessons.
He taught me right from wrong.
He instilled in me the values
That one day I'd be strong.
He taught me to face my fears,
Take each day as it comes,
For there are things that we can't change.
He would say what's done is done.
He would say hold your head up high,
Carry yourself with pride.
Thanks to him, I am somebody,
I will never run and hide.
If I could write a story,
It would be the greatest ever told.
I'd write about my daddy,
For he had a heart of gold.

Hi. I just lost my Daddy September 28, 2023. I am a 60 year old woman who lives in my hometown. So when my brothers and son told my my daddy was ill, I immediately called his doctor and got his prognosis. Everyone told me I had time. I spoke to my daddy that evening. His last words to me was "I love you." I made arrangement that evening to come see him and take care of him myself. I got to his house and he as already in on Hospice Care. This was Wednesday morning, and he passed on Thursday afternoon, the 28 of September, 2023. When I read this poem, it touches my heart. I'm sitting here crying. Grieving in private at this time is the best I can do. I have a great support system, but sometimes I just need my daddy. Things were never perfect with him but I was his baby girl and he was my daddy. He used to look at me like I hung the moon. I was holding his hand when he took his last breath. I owed him because he was there when I took my first breath. I pray for strength.

I just recently lost my dad. He was my everything. He raised me because my mother wasn't around much. I can relate to your poem and everyone's story. I looked up to my dad. He did 3 tours in Vietnam, was pronounced dead twice, he was 100% disabled, he had definitely been through some stuff and yet managed to do a good job raising me. I miss my dad. Blessings and prayers go out to all who love their dads. Thank you.

I just don't want to cry because I also lost my dad a few months ago, but I just can't control my emotions by reading this poem.

Thank you. I used to write poetry. I'm 54 years young. Your poem is striking to my heart. Tears cold. Flow down my cheeks. At least I know I can express emotion again. Thank you so much. I love my Daddy; we have differences; that changes love in no way. Thank you for sharing. God bless you.

This poem truly means a lot to me. A daughter's life is nothing without her dad's love. Love you, dad, my superhero.

I lost my dad on 09 October 2018, and unfortunately, he was just 43 and I was in class nine. It is really heart-breaking to live without someone who was present in all your heartbeats and breaths. I was so shocked that I was going to commit suicide, but remembering the values taught by him, I stepped back. It is painful, but we have to gear up and move ahead on the ways he taught us and fulfill his wishes and aspirations which he had for you.

I know how you feel. My dad is still alive, but my mom screwed me so many times I didn't know how to deal with it. She would come into my life for at least a month, and then I wouldn't hear from her for a year or so. It hurt so much. I still wonder what I did wrong, but then 5/5/21 she let me talk to my half-sister. We would talk to each other every day until 5:00 in the afternoon, so we got to know each other, and we set a date to spent 4th of July with her. Ten days before we were supposed to go see her she told me to never talk to her again. I hurt so bad. I just wanted to die right then and there, but I realized I have my baby sister, brother, step-mom, and my dad, so I knew I had people who love me and care for me. My point is think of the happy things you still have in your life and cherish them forever, and remember your dad is with you everywhere you go.

This poem reminds me of my father who passed away twenty years ago in 1999. His sensitive words and deeds still echo in my mind.

I loved your poem. That's how my daddy is, and I love him. He is alive, and I hope he lives a long time. He fights everyone so that I can study. Love you, Papa.
