About John Peter Read

John Peter Read was born in the East End of London in 1948. He was brought up by his Nan and mother, as his father left home when he was 5 years old. At the age of 15, John left school with just a basic education. While in school, he wrote little rhymes just for fun. A couple of his religious poems were published by the Christian church in the UK. He always looks for the best in people regardless of their faults because none of us are perfect, and he’s not one to take life too seriously. John joined the Family Friend Poems Forum in 2011, one year after his wife, Ann, passed away. Sharing his thoughts through poetry helps with the pain of grieving.

  • Awareness.

It's so hard now days to sort out the lies from the truth, so we have to be aware, never take anyone's word for granted, for if something doesn't feel right, then it's most probably wrong.
The pathway of awareness and truth is the best path to follow.

    Awareness is wisdom
    were truth wears a crown.
    Where freedom is born
    and lies make no sound.

    In the silence of twilight
    When ghostly whispers unfold.
    Thoughts fill my head
    From days of long ago.

I read somewhere that it's religion that gives God a bad name, as I've grown older, and what's happening in our world,I believe it's true.

I've washed my hands of religion
rather than let it brainwash me.
I'm no longer a prisoner being held captive
by those bars of lies and deceit.

The most overused word is (Like )
    A word I rather dislike
    The young generation
    Would lose communication

I've never been keen on religion although I do belive in God.
When I see all the wonderful things around me it recharges my faith.

Losing someone you shared your whole life with is soul destroying. Everywhere you go everything you do, the memories are always there. It's now 8 years since my wife and best friend passed away, but the pain never leaves; you just learn to live with it.

Hi Rosie, I'm so sorry that you feel so sad and broken. Having been there myself, I know how hard it can be. Hang on in there, sweetheart. Things can only get better, believe me. God Bless.
