    Poems by Josephine Zavala-Florez

  • Chambers Of My Heart

I remember my sister calling me to put the television on. When I did, I witnessed a plane crashing into the World Trade Center. Having two small children at the time, and the thought of them being potentially harmed, scared me to my core. I prayed for God's protection and mercy for everyone. Life suddenly felt so fragile. My faith was challenged as anxiety and fear gripped me when I tried making sense of everything that was going on. I wrote this poem during this painful and disturbing time.

I need your light to guide my way.

  • Lost In Emotion

    in Faith Poems

Sometimes I feel lost in a maze of emotions,
where every direction feels like a dead-end street.
I feel so alone in my search for an answer
that I start to blame God for not meeting my needs.

This poem is the same as my feelings. Almost every day I ask myself why I must face all these trials. I have been tired of life, but I realize God has a plan for me and for everybody. I have...

I really enjoyed reading this poem. I also feel so grateful to God and thankful. A happy heart is a thankful heart.
