About Darren C Swartland

Bohemian type of poet who writes to express thoughts, emotions and how I am feeling regarding an issuse. I'm very much flawed in my own way; a christian who doesn't pretend to be perfect at all or who tries to judge or look down on others.

Our realness gives art beauty.

I try to incorporate struggles that people can relate to by my writing as well, to let them know they aren't alone and that in life it never rains forever.

  • Such A Lovely Flower

This poem makes use of references that signifies what the Daisy represents, a flower which has been know to of been a sacred love symbol in Norse mythology. I use personification to bring the properties of the Daisy to life and in contrast this all is a way to show the girl I love just how amazing she is even though not many may know of her or her background.

You're not the kind of flower that will attract a deer wandering through but you'll draw in butterflies when it's time to burstfully bloom. Love need not stand out among the crowd, your mythology has significantly sung aloud, enchanting my heart as if it were endowed.

  • Nothing Greater

This poem is a metaphoric passage placing much emphasis on the value of love. It reads like a story, something akin to a folktale but the true is this isn't just something we dream of but an actuality we get to experience.

  • I Am Me Regardless

This is a poem to encourage others who lack self esteem to stop worrying so much about other's opinion of them and lowering their own self image and confidence because of this. The need to feel like we matter or are important or needed is such a strong sensation that can sometimes lead us down a path to depression because we lack self love. We have to appreciate who we are and enjoy living in our own skin regardless of whether we fit into the norms or not.

    How you feel about me
is a portrait reflected by thee
    not a picture which paints
the kind of person I'm really.

  • More Than Just Small Talk

Talking to someone is easy but seriously getting to know them and wanting to connect on a deeper level is where the magic lies.

Tell me tales of your experiences
    like a novel painting imagination.
Take me back like a time traveller
to days sleeping thumb in mouth.
