Life Long Friend Poem

Poem About Unwavering Support For A Friend

I wrote this poem for a friend I've known since childhood. We've both been separated by distance and never see each other anymore but still keep in touch. She was going through heartbreak and depression, so I wrote this poem for her to remind her that no matter what happens in life, I'll always be there for her, even if we can't see each other.

A Poem For My Friend

Published by Family Friend Poems March 2015 with permission of the Author.

Staring into the horizon at the light of dawn,
Truly fate is what we both stumbled upon,

That memorable day playing at the park,
Who would imagine that it'd be the start?

The start of something that would last forever,
A friendship bond? No, something better!

A savior who would help in escape,
A trustee to keep every secret safe

A guardian to rely on when fears escalated,
A song we could sing to when times were elated

A shoulder to cry on when it snowed in September,
Memories to laugh at that we'd always remember.

You're all that I wanted when wishes were rare.
You're all that I needed when nobody cared.

Tears don't belong in those gold honey eyes,
An angel so beautiful deserves never to cry.

I'm always here with words kissed with love,
So spread your wings and fly like a dove.

Don't care about those who don't think you're worth it.
To me, you could never be any more perfect.

I know when it rains things won't always be sunshine,
So come under my umbrella and together we'll survive.

Just always remember to be patient and pray,
"Tomorrow will be different," as you'd always say.

For you, there's nothing that I wouldn't do.
My heart's not that big yet, but I'll give you that too.

To be your friend is what I am honored to be.
To be your sister is what I'm meant to be.

So now you should know as we've reached an end,
To me you'll always be more than a friend.
