Poems Celebrating the Beauty and Wonder of Nature

Whether one is watching a thrilling thunderstorm or looking up at a mighty tree, the experience of nature is one of awe. One cannot help but marvel at the intricate design of a single leaf, or the roar of a great waterfall. Time spent in nature is time spent realizing that you don't know it all and that you never will. The earth is meant to be enjoyed by its inhabitants. That includes keeping it in the pristine condition in which it was discovered. Everyone has a part of the earth that they relate to the most. Whether it is a majestic mountain range, a roaring waterfall, a bouquet of flowers, or the calm of the woods, these are places to get to know oneself and build bonds with family.

Can one conceive of any reason for a flower's beauty excepting our ability to enjoy their exquisite splendor? Of course there are scientific reasons for flowers beautiful colors such as attracting animals to spread nectar and enabling them to reproduce. Just the same, there could have been many other ways to allow for plant species to reproduce. It is my belief that the world is beautiful so that we could have the pleasure of enjoying it. A flower is a testimony that the world is designed for our enjoyment.

Three quarters of the earth's surface is covered by water. The ocean conceals billions of creatures interacting in ways that we will never fully understand. Much of the ocean is mysterious. We cruise along on boats on the ocean's surface, and sit on beaches watching the ocean's surf meet the land. One of the great things about the ocean is that we cannot build on it. It will remain a vast open space perfect for contemplation.

What is the true state of the environment. You have the politicians on the left telling you that there is undeniable evidence of global warming. Thousands of species become extinct every day because we are cutting down the rain forests. All around the earth, environmentalists are pointing out devastation. On the other hand those on the right would have us believe that the earth is perfectly fine. They say that all of the changes that the earth is going through are perfectly OK and that we have nothing to worry about. Who is right?

When we take the time to examine the beauty of the world around us, we are able to see parallels within our own lives. One who in tune with nature is in tune with the practice of living. Nature moves in a spiral as do our personal lives. It is important to spend time in nature because in this way we can become aware of its wisdom. If we ignore the beauty of nature and spend all our time in an urban jungle, our stress levels go up and we begin to feel as if we are made out of the concrete that we see all around us.
